Driver accused of trying to run down officer

cape coral, Fla. – Police arrest a driver accused of trying to hit an officer and then driving away from the scene.

Solange Jose is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police.

Cape police tried stopping jose for a traffic violation on Del Prado Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. As the officer approached, he says Jose tried to hit him with her car and took off.

Officers followed Jose until she hit a tree and crashed on Nicholas Parkway, closing the road for more than hour.
