This information of the UK’s Foreign Affairs Department was disclosed by Sir Michael Wood, the legal advisor of the testimony of Foreign Affairs, at the UK Chilcot inquiry. While saying this he also added that the reply from the office of Prime Minister Tony Blair to the professional work of his legal department was chastisement for putting their unanimous legal opinion in writing.

Sir Michael testified that Jack Straw, the Foreign Secretary, had preferred of taking legal position which the laws governing war were vague and he also wants to open to broad interpretation. He said, “He took the view that I was being very dogmatic and that international law was pretty vague and that he wasn’t used to people taking such a firm position.”
