LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- WINK News is tracking brand new developments to a disturbing discovery in Lehigh Acres. It’s a story you saw first on WINK- a double murder-suicide leaving two adults and a baby dead inside their home.?We learned Friday the deceased husband was no stranger to authorities. From the outside looking in, neighbors say the Forde family was about as normal as you could get. Lisa worked with Lee County EMA, and they were new parents of a one-year old baby boy. But a second look at the husband’s past reveals troubling signs leading up to the horrific tragedy taking place behind closed doors. “She was trying to make this relationship work, and you can’t really blame her. It happens a lot. Maybe it was a one time thing, and she hoped that it would change,” neighbor Alice Agness said Friday. Reports show Alex Forde had a history with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked in 2007 for possession of cocaine. But the most eery charges date back to April of last year. Alex was arrested for domestic violence, after allegedly throwing Lisa to the ground when she was 12 weeks pregnant. “They’d come around and stuff but he really just didn’t like to talk much. He would just put his head down. Basically he just wanted to say hey and go about his business,” Agness said. But the quiet couple, and their young son Caleb are dead, sparking a double murder-suicide investigation. Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies swarmed the house and shutdown part of the neighborhood for two days straight. “It’s a nice neighborhood. And you don’t think those things can happen.” Friday evening, WINK News talked to the Forde family’s pastor at New Image Ministries church here in Lehigh. He said they were a very spiritual family, and Alex in particular was very dedicated to his faith. We’ll continue updates as more information becomes available. Lee County Sheriff’s Office says they’ll release more information once an autopsy is complete. LEE COUNTY, Fla. – In mid March, 2010, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit initiated an undercover operation aimed at the manufacturing and selling of fraudulent identification cards and social security cards in Bonita Springs. The nearly six-month-long operation targeted a family living at 27881 New York Street, Trailer 1A, Bonita Springs. Over the past several months, undercover operatives made several purchases of fraudulent documentation from three individuals, identified as Roberto Cruz (DOB 3/13/66), his wife Eva Cruz (DOB 10/10/77) and their son, Alex Cruz Juarez (DOB 10/17/90). Due to the actions of the suspects, along with information obtained through the course of the investigation, all three were arrested on September 1, 2010 (please see attached photos). During the investigation, detectives would go to the Cruz’s home and pay one-hundred to one-hundred and twenty dollars for a resident alien card and a social security card. After a number of visits to the Cruz home for similar transactions, investigators learned of a sophisticated system set up in the family’s garage designed to create fake identification cards and other fraudulent documentation. The cards provided by the Cruz’s would identify the buyer as a Mexican citizen, complete with his or her own social security number. These cards were then believed to be utilized by a number of undocumented citizens in Southwest Florida to obtain work with unsuspecting employers. The incident remains under investigation. In addition to state charges, detectives are currently working with ICE to obtain possible federal indictments against the suspects. The investigation has resulted in the following charges: Eva Cruz – Nine felony charges including; three counts of Possession of Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1a), three counts of Selling or Manufacturing Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1d) and three counts of Selling, Trading or Giving Away a Driver’s License or Identification Card (322.212-2). Roberto Cruz – Six felony charges including; two counts of Possession of Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1a), two counts of Selling or Manufacturing Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1d) and two counts of Selling, Trading or Giving Away a Driver’s License or Identification Card (322.212-2). Alex Cruz Juarez – Six felony charges including; two counts of Possession of Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1a), two counts of Selling or Manufacturing Fraudulent or Stolen Identification Cards (322.212-1d) and two counts of Selling, Trading or Giving Away a Driver’s License or Identification Card (322.212-2). FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Fort Myers cancer treatment center fell victim to copper thieves. Hundreds of dollars of damage was done to the office, even causing them to temporarily shutdown. Hundreds of patients count on getting chemotherapy and other treatments at Florida Cancer Specialist. That battle was made even more difficult on Tuesday, after copper thieves left the office high and dry. Thieves ripped apart the cancer center’s power box, taking off with $950 worth of copper wires. The destruction left the office without a phone line or power to treat the 150 patients with scheduled appointments. “It was a madhouse. But because we have four other offices in Lee County, we were able to switch people with critical appointments to one of our other offices,” Dr. Michael Raymond of Florida Cancer Specialist said. Wednesday, Florida Cancer Specialist was back in business, and trying to catch up with patients caught in the middle of the mess. While repairs are complete and only traces of the theft remain, doctors send a message to the copper crooks. “Hope it was worthwhile. I mean, to them. Because they hurt a lot of people. They caused a lot of stress to a lot of people who are sick, fighting cancer, and don’t need that extra stress,” Raymond said Wednesday. Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crime. So far they’ve made no arrests. LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Lee County detectives are searching for a quick change artist who has stolen a total of nearly two thousand dollars from two different Lee County banks. On July 2, 2010, the suspect entered the Wachovia Bank at 8700 Corkscrew Road, Estero and presented the teller with a stack of $2,700.00 in $50 bills. The suspect requested $100 bills. The teller counted out the $100 bills and placed them on the counter. The suspect then stated that he needed the money in Euros. The teller explained that it would take time to get that number of Euros. The suspect then handed back the $100 bills and asked for his $50 bills back. After the suspect left, the teller noticed $900 in $100 bills missing. On August 18, 2010, the quick change artist struck Regions Bank located at 24836 South Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs.
